European Cooperation For Accreditation Multilateral Agreement
The Regulation provides a legal framework for the provision of accreditation services at European level, both in the voluntary and regulated sectors, and obliges EU Member States to accept results issued by conformity assessment bodies accredited by one of the signatories to the multilateral EA Convention (GW). EA is formally mandated as the body responsible for the European accreditation infrastructure under Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 and works with the Commission of the European Communities and EFTA under a Memorandum of Understanding (Memorandum of Understanding). All results of the conformity assessment (z.B. Reports and certificates provided by conformity assessment bodies accredited by a signatory to the EA-MLA shall be considered as conformity assessment results covered by the EA-MLA, provided that the conformity assessment results issued by the CAB contain a reference to the corresponding accreditation.
